Five Star Hotels: Go On, No One’s Judging

Updated: June 7, 2026

If you wish to take the path of least gastrointestinal resistance, the five-star hotels are your sanctuary. Delhi’s luxury hotel dining has matured dramatically, and places like The Oberoi, Maurya Sheraton, Taj Palace, The Leela, and the Hyatt now serve food that can hold its own against the best restaurants in London or Singapore.

A meal for two will run you about ₹10,000 — roughly $105 or €90 — which sounds steep until you remember that a forgettable dinner for one at a middling restaurant in Amsterdam can set you back €60 without breaking a sweat.

For the quality on offer, it’s a steal dressed up in a linen napkin.

Expect an 18% government tax on the bill, plus a discretionary service charge of 5–10% that the restaurant will add with the quiet confidence of a fait accompli.
